A few years ago, I found myself sitting in my car, staring blankly at a grocery store parking lot. My mind was somewhere else entirely—spiraling through an endless loop of "what-ifs" and "should-haves." What if I had handled that conversation differently? What if I made the wrong choice about my career? I was replaying a situation from years ago and simultaneously worrying about a future I couldn’t control.

Suddenly, I realized I had no memory of how I’d gotten there. The drive, the red lights, the turns—they had all passed in a blur while I was trapped in my head. It was as if I wasn’t even alive for those moments. That thought hit me hard: I wasn’t living—I was existing somewhere else.

I took a deep breath. I turned off the car and felt my hands on the steering wheel. I noticed the rhythm of my breath, the warmth of the sun streaming through the windshield, the sound of birds nearby. Slowly, I felt myself come back to the present moment. For the first time in what felt like hours, I was here. I was alive.
